Swimming pools are fun ways to beat the heat, but it’s important to do so safely. Along with thinking about water safety, another essential aspect is the safety of the concrete around the pool.
A homeowner in Winter Springs, FL, started to notice some glaring problems with his pool deck. Several areas of concrete were cracking, sinking and uneven. This not only affects the appearance of the pool area, but its safety, as well. Significant gaps between concrete slabs present tripping hazards, which are especially dangerous around pools. Other areas around the patio had the same issues.
The owner wanted to have these problems fixed before any serious damage or injury resulted, so he began to research how to best address them. He found information about Florida Foundation Authority through the Better Business Bureau, and he was motivated to contact us for further guidance. One of our inspectors then visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the concrete. Our inspector then presented the owner with a reliable repair solution.
Foreman Joshua Ortiz and his crew then used the PolyLevel System to lift, level and stabilize the problematic concrete on their property. This process involved first drilling small holes into the sinking concrete slabs. Injection ports were then placed in these holes, and special equipment was used to inject high-density polyurethane under the slabs. The material expands to fill any voids, and this allows for the exact lifting and leveling of the concrete slabs. The PolyLevel material is lightweight, but very durable. It will not wash out, and its quick cure time allows for normal traffic to resume just 15 minutes after installation.
The owner was excited to have this state-of-the-art repair project completed so the pool would be a safer area.
