On Monday, our "Authority Family" of Florida Foundation Authority and Ohio Basement Authority joined together for our first Dedication to Excellence meeting. This was an in-office training in Columbus that involved presentations from each department, a guest speaker, football hall-of-famer, Mel Blount, and team building exercises.
Our values are One Team, One Passion, One Community, and One Experience. This event was about committing to those for ourselves and our customers in 2019. "One Team" means that we all work together to do the job right every single time. This is our motto throughout the company. Someone needs help? Someone else is there - personally and professionally. This also means that each team member has a part to play, from marketing to production.
"One Passion" means that everyone here is passionate about what we do. We believe in creating safer and healthier homes from our customers and redefining the way they view contractors and the experiences they have with them. We also believe in creating a positive and fulfilling work environment.
"One Experience" means that every customer has the exact same top-notch experience with each team member they come into contact with. We make sure every customer is 100% satisfied before our crew leaves. We will also continue to come out if anything ever goes wrong and even to prevent that from happening.
Finally, "One Community" is our belief in returning the gifts we've been given. We are fortunate to work for an amazing company that allows us to provide for our families, so we want to give that back to people who may not be as fortunate.
Our event on Monday enforced these ideas and set the scene for continuing to uphold these values and grow in 2019.
Mel Blount - retired Steelers football player - spoke about the importance of working as a team and always being willing to learn and grow. He said, "the best ability to have is availability." It's important to always be there for your teammates and anyone who may need you. He also said that it is easier to get on top than it is to stay there. You can try really hard to get somewhere, but you won't stay there if you just stop after that or don't continue to get better. It was a pleasure to have Mr. Blount speak for us and to meet him.
Overall, we learned more about our company and how we are all connected and can continue to help each other. We also learned about plans for growth and how we are looking for great people to join our team. I know we are all excited to see what the new year holds for Florida Foundation Authority and Ohio Basement Authority.
